Nin iyo Mas / A Man and a Cobra:

A popular Somali folktale that takes place where the Somali Nomadic live.  It is the story of a man and a Cobra.

The Cobra bites Geedi who was the only child of Gheelle and died instantly.

The Heart of Gheelle is broken since his only son was bitten and killed by the Cobra. He vowed to avenge for his son and bought a new sword to kill the snake.

Luckily the snake ran into his cave. The snake became very frightened and realized that he was very close to be killed by the sword of the man.

After a while the man proposed for the Cobra a peace initiative. The Snake said that so long as you see the death of your son and so long as I see the sword, there will never be a peace and trust between us.

That quote became a Somali proverb. A fascinating folktale, full of drama, revenge, death & sorrow.
