Hausa is a west Chadic language with the largest number of speakers of the Chadic language group, with about 24 million native speakers, and a second language of about 15 million more. Hausa is mostly spoken in Niger and Nigeria, where the Hausa people reside, but the language is also used as a lingua franca in West and Central Africa, particularly in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Sudan, and Togo.
