This guide deals with architecture in the broadest sense of the term and represents the attempt to grasp the successful and characteristic building fabric of Austria that arose in the 20th century and to present it in context.  It is not only about the presentation of the so-called »modernity«, but about the recording of many architectural historical phenomena, as far as we see them today as witnesses to historical developments.  So it's not just about architecture in the academic or art-historical sense, about buildings that symbolize the intellectual life of our society, but also about buildings for “ordinary needs”, made by anonymous builders and craftsmen, as far as we can  be able to read cultural and historical information from them.  The architecture guide is based on an object list with the basic information (location, planning and construction time, author / executor), which is sorted geographically and thematically.  Within this list, an evaluation of the objects is carried out, which is expressed in the scope of the building description, so that it is possible to quickly find out about the most important buildings.  Volume III (Vienna, Lower Austria) is published in autumn 1985 by Residenz Verlag
